Newborn sleep - HELP!!

Mamas! I'm desperately in need of some advice on getting my LB to sleep in the day!!! He will be 3 weeks old on Tues and I feel like I'm getting it all wrong. I know with a NB there won't really be a routine as such, so I don't expect to have solid sleep/wake/feed times, however he basically DOESN'T sleep in the day and i feel like I'm losing my mind!! He will sleep around 3-4 hrs at a time in the night, waking for 2-3 feeds, but in the day I'm lucky if he sleeps for an hour in total in 5/10 min bursts, and it takes qbout 2 hrs for him to be even slightly sleepy after a feed. He must be exhausted and so am I!!!
He seems to be suffering with bad trapped wind, when he does drop off he wakes within a few mins crying trying to pass wind or after passing wind. He is formula fed, having 4oz of C&G comfort every 3-4 hrs, he has been having infacol for around 2 wks and as of yesterday i swapped to Dentinox.
My OH works away for weeks at a time and I am really struggling as i don't get a chance to do anything in the day as he seems to be constantly crying or fussing. I feel like I've tried everything and like I'm failing him. Any advice truly appreciated. TIA xx

My baby is the same and he's now 10 weeks and pretty much still the same. Brilliant night sleeper since birth, has been sleeping through the night since 8 weeks but day time naps are not a thing, he gets serious fomo. I have no tips but just to say you aren't alone!

That makes me feel a little better! I keep reading everywhere that newborns should sleep for around 16 hrs a day and my boy is the opposite!! I thought NB stage would be the easy bit as they're usually so sleepy but nope 😂 x

Dentinox is fantastic stuff.
Does he fuss whilst in the bath?
Does he fuss with his nappy off?
Where do you put him to sleep?

When he’s awake put him on a play mat or in a rocker 30 mins ish so you can shower/make food/do something with two hands. Also get a sling if you’ve not got one. All babies are different, mine slept all day (only on me though tbf) and was awake all night screaming for the first few weeks. Putting baby down for a few minutes whilst you do a few bits is fine, and you’ll feel better for it.

I've read great things, fingers crossed it gets to work soon! In the bath and nappy off he is fine, I have a moses basket and a next to me type crib so he sleeps between both, but only place he will drop off is on me 😖 x

Yes defo need to invest in a sling!! I have a rocker but he hates that too 😂 i feel awful just leaving him crying in his crib so I can go to the loo 😔 I suppose its better that he sleeps more at night but the age old saying of sleep when the baby sleeps just isn't possible and I'm shattered! X
