Hi everyone

My son is 1 year old and he still drinks out of a bottle he has water and sugar free squash during the day maybe one milk bottle if he has a nap
When hes going to bed he has a milk bottle and he wakes once during the night for another milk bottle and that's him

My health visitor said I should wean him off bottles and use sippy cups and try stop the night feed

I've tryed sippy cups he hates them anyone suggestions of good ones

Also how can I try to get him to drop the night feed he screams till he gets it and goes straight back to sleep

All advice be great tia

Hi OP, just bumping this one for you in the hope that someone will be able to help.

My DD was never a fan of a sippy cup but nuby did ones that had a soft silicone straw. You could try those. She liked them. There are also proper cups that are made for children's haves so very small to teach them to drink from an open beaker if that's age appropriate.

As for the night bottle, he will drop it when he is ready to. Don't stress about it and if the HV is persistent in asking I'd just say he has stopped taking it. There is no point in sleepless nights trying to get him to sleep without it, it's not good for either of you.

Hi,

Have you tried the soft sippy cups, the spout is similar to that of a bottle?

My DS didn't like the hard ones but accepted the soft ones? Might be worth a try, Dr Browns do them I think.

With regards to the night feeds, I think they generally let you know when they are ready to stop. I know 3 people, each of their children did it at different times.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself x

Not advice really but my 2.5 yr old still takes his nap time milk from a bottle. He won’t settle without it and needs must 😅
For his water, we have a nuby tritan type bottle with a straw. He was never that fussed about sippy cups and just used to sprinkle the contents everywhere.
