9 month old has stopped sleeping through the night

My 9 month old has always been a good sleeper he’s never really woke up through the night at all until now, he has 3 meals a day and is a good eater but now like clockwork every night at 3am he is fully awake wanting milk, I’ve tried today cutting his naps but here we are at 3.30am wide awake after a bottle, he has just learnt to crawl and the waking up starts with him practicing in his cot for 10 mins then he starts shouting for milk its the only thing that will settle him, is it wishful thinking hoping that this is just a phase 🙈

It could be a phase, there is supposed to be a sleep regression around 8-10 months!

Suspect its a phase. Our 10 month old usually only wakes once and goes straight back to bed. The last week or two she's up and down several times. Standing as soon as she's put in the cot even if she was asleep. I think they've so much development happening at this age, with walking, crawling, talking, teething etc they're really unsettled.
Fingers crossed it passes soon. Just wanted you to know you're not on you're own x

To be honest you were lucky he was sleeping through til 9 months! Totally normal for babies and toddlers to be up several times a night.

LakeShoreD · 14/12/2021 11:43

Yep we had this. I made sure to feed a really filling dinner, refused to feed overnight and did controlled crying even though it was the last thing I wanted to do at 3am. Night one we did resettled at 2 minutes, 5 minutes and 10 minutes, then he was back to sleep. Night two we resettled at 2 minutes and 5 minutes. Then back to sleeping through by night 3.

How much milk does he drink at night? I would just decrease the amount every night until nothing. That's how I night weaned, i was breast feeding though so decreased the time.

@JustWonderingIfYou he has dinner then 7oz before bed then at 3am he’ll polish off another 7oz so he must be hungry, its just strange cause hes always slept 11/12 hours, maybe its a growth spurt
