2.5yo waking scared in the night

Recently, DS has been refusing to go to bed (claiming he needs the toilet, more recently admitting he just doesn't want to go to bed). He's also started waking in the night and crying, saying he's scared. When we ask him at night what he's scared of, he says he doesn't know; when in the daytime, he says he isn't scared. This has been getting worse and now he's up every 20 minutes or so until he comes into our bed or one of us sleeps on his floor. Any thoughts on what we can do to reassure him?

(Possibly relevant side information: I'm heavily pregnant and, though he says he's excited, I'm sure that is unsettling him.)

Id stop taking him into bed or sleeping on his floor tbh. He is probably a bit anxious because of the new arrival but you can't sustain that when baby arrives. Its going to be painful possibly but going in, reassuring then walking out when they are drowsy or at least calm might be better. That's what we did, it was difficult for about a week then improved. It helped to tired her out during the day too.
During the day, what are you saying to him about happens when the baby arrives? Explaining his role and how he's not being replaced might help.
