Hi all my baby keeps bring up her milk after feeds i have tried to burp her but she bring it up most of her feeds she’s 11weeks old . I went to the GP and she gave me baby Gaviscon to mixing with her formula feeds and she is formula-fed. The first two times I get about the baby Gaviscon she was good she didn’t bring up any milk but after the first two feeds I’m still giving her the baby Gaviscon and she still bringing up her feeds I don’t know how long it takes for the Gaviscon to work or if I need to get the GP to change it. if anyone on this group has experiences can you please share the tips and tricks you used to help with baby reflux and also what your doctor said or what medication you were given and how long it went on for sorry I’m asking you so many questions just being a new mum I don’t know anything

Ok
First of all bringing up milk after or shortly after a feed is normal most of the time .
It always looks a lot more than it is

My 6 month old does it after every feed still.

If baby is happy and weight gain is ok it's something they will out grow :)

Both of my babies had reflux. Gaviscon thickens the milk, stick with it as it can help. My eldest was then given ranitidine to use alongside the Gaviscon and it was a miracle worker.

When I had my youngest, ranitidine wasn't being used so we were given omeprazole instead which helped. So if you're worried go back to the GP and they can prescribe something further. Usually they want you to have tried the Gaviscon for a week or two first

2 of my 4 kids had reflux. The youngest had it bad. Although bringing up milk after feeds is normal, with a really refluxy baby, it's like projectile vomit and it's often the whole feed, not just a bit. Sometimes the Gavison worked, sometimes it didn't. When he was really sick, though, I would feed him again afterwards as he was always still hungry and it prevented him from losing weight. I weaned him slightly earlier than advised as he was a hungry baby and struggling with reflux. When they start taking in solids it helps them to keep it down and they eventually grow out of it.

My baby had bad reflux until he was 4-5 months gaviscon did really help him but maybe give it a few more days to adjust. My baby got better once he started to have solid introduced in his diet so I introduced it from 4 months and it was much better when he was 6 months

Mine had terrible reflux, and silent reflux (not actually bringing milk back, but causing them pain - heartburn, basically) at that age.

Got prescribed baby Gaviscon that helped a bit, but not much just like you, and made her really constipated.

Omeprazol was prescribed next and was great - still throwing up as much so constant clothes changes/bottle top ups to get enough feed, but she was suddenly a happy little baby rather than in pain, so was OK to put up with.

My baby had terrible reflux. His caused him a lot of pain so he was prescribed omeprazole, which helped. It didn’t stop him being sick, but as long as they’re gaining weight the sick isn’t harmful.

They eventually grow out of it - my baby did at around 6 months.

Is your baby in pain or discomfort?
My dd would throw up all her milk around that age - atleast once a day. We'd both be drenched. It was quite shocking how much she could produce. But she was quite happy afterwards and no other signs it was "reflux". The HV said as long as baby gaining weight, plenty of wet/dirty nappies then just a laundry issue. Dd stopped doing it by about 5months.

You need to use baby gaviscon for at least a week to see any difference but tbf all it seems to do it make baby constipated.

Omeprazole worked wonders for myson. Didn’t stop the pukes but stopped the pain
