anyone else doing the GDL?

thats the graduate diploma in law..
am doing it PT and finding it a hard slog, just wondering if there are any other MNetters crazy enough to also be doing it..

I did the GDL PT at the CoL from 2004 -2006. Am now doing the LPC & also 37 weeks pregnant. The college are supportive now (had to make a bit of a fuss initially!). Have found classmates and some tutors the best form of support.

The GDL is a hard slog but if you're doing it PT there may well be other parents in the class. Maybe ask at Learning Support. I found being part of a study group (just 3-4 others from my small group) excellent...helped motivate each other and saved time coming up to the exams as we each did sample answers.

Would recommend doing the mocks...painful at the time but at least you get feedback and your notes will be useful in May & June.

If you have particular problems (whether related to you or the class), speak to your class rep.

hi mrs NOC - nice to hear there is someone out there doing this route too! I am on a distance learning course based at DMU in leicester where we meet for teaching every 4 weeks so its a bit isolating, but do have email contact with a couple of people and its always reassuring when we get together..have met other parents doing the course but their kids are a bit older and in school which is a very different kettle of fish to looking after a LO full time!
so are you going to take a break from your course when you have your LO? How are you going to manage it? And is this your first baby?
Really great to know i am not the only one on MN doing this anyway - do keep in touch, and all the very best with your new arrival!
