Waking up after falling asleep

Hiya, my 4 month old can sometimes self settle at bedtime in the side cot (takes me a while with a lullaby, white noise and dummy)

But she'll wake up pretty much after 5 mins. Any ideas?

I usually try again but she'll start crying and I give up.

So she goes on the boob for a few seconds, falls asleep then sleeps in a nice big super king bed Grin

That sounds pretty much normal. When DS was younger he would sometimes self settle for 5 minutes or so with a dummy. Once he hit 4 months he wouldn’t take a dummy any more.

If I want DS to settle in his cot then I put him on the boob, then put him in his cot after the feed. If he wakes up then I’ll shush and pat a bit if he’s still half asleep but if he moans then I’ll pick him up, put him back on the boob and try again.

At the moment I’m taking a mixed approach to sleeping. If I need to wee then I’ll get him to sleep in his cot so that I can nip to the bathroom once he’s asleep. If my bladder’s ok then I’ll let him sleep in the bed with me. If I can’t hold any longer and I still haven’t settled him in his cot then I’ll put him in a bouncer in the bathroom while I go wee, then take him back to the bedroom and let him sleep in the bed.
