12m old sleep advice!

For context my LO has two severe allergies (nuts and eggs), milk/dairy intolerance and eczema which we have to slather him in cream for daily. He is on Neocate for CMPA.

He’s never been the best sleeper but now goes down most nights fuss free at 6.45pm following bedtime routine but wakes religiously every night between 12-1.30am and again at 5am(ish).

In the middle of the night he goes straight back down after 4oz but the early wake is touch and go and I don’t know what I should do to cut it out. If he does go back to sleep it’s only for 30/40 mins. I’ve tried giving him water but he will just cry if I leave the room or bounce around in his crib. He knows how to self settle and it seems to happen whether he has 2 hours or 1 hour worth of daytime sleep. How do I stop this wake?

It would be ok if I thought things were improving slowly but they are actually getting worse with him now waking at 10pm very upset and wanting a cuddle. At the 12m check they told me to cut all feeds in the night as he should be sleeping through now but cutting that feed in the middle of the night just makes him so upset..

Put him to bed later? That's such an early bedtime.

My daughter did this at 12 months she went through a phase of getting up and just wanted picked up. She suddenly just stopped again and now sleeps through i do think they just go through phases. Stick to bedtime routine and give plenty of drinks/fruit before bed. Good luck U will get there 😁 x

@Garman he doesn’t resist his bedtime, he shows tired signs and I often hear about LOs sleeping 7-7

@CC12x glad to hear there is a chance he will outgrow it! I think it’s the feeling like I’m missing a trick but if it’s just a waiting game then I’ll give into the requests for 5am cuddles for now 😊

Yeah I'd also try a later bedtime.
DD does 9pm-8am, I tried an earlier bedtime and it didn't work she was waking 4/5am. She would be asleep at 6.30pm but it's just too early.

Maybe try stretching to 8pm?
