My 13 month old hates his nappy beeing changed. He screams, kicks his legs turns over and crawls away. I struggle to keep him on his back to change him and I feel like its a wrestling match every nappy change. Ive tried giving him toys/items such as my phone or keys to distract him but nothing does, it ends up beeing thrown eather at me or into the nappy🤢

This morning he done a poop and we ended up with poop everywhere, all over the floor, all over his legs and feet, on my keys/phone/toys i tried distracting him with, up my arms, I ended up putting him in the bath and showering him down. I dread leaving the house incase he does a poop whilst were out and end up with poop everywhere or worse he falls off the changing mat.

He only does this at home and for me. Ive spoke to nursery and family members and they say they have no problem changing his nappy.

Can you change him standing up?

Change him on the floor and use your legs to contain him.

Give him a warning that you're going to change his nappy and explain during why it needs to be changed etc. Lots of talking and eye contact. It might not seem like he is listening/understanding but it will be going in.
