Baby sitting up

So my DD who's 8 months old in the next week can sit very well independently but lunges/leaps forward to grab things resulting in her hitting her head and falling over and crying.

Did anyone else's baby do this and how did they help it?

Put pillows and cushions all around her

Is she crawling? DS never did that but he crawled first and didn't sit until he got himself into a sitting position.

Thanks for the suggestions! And shes not crawling as of yet, I've been trying to encourage her too for the past week but no luck yet. She's just very good at sitting but too nosy when it comes to things that aren't easily in reach aha
