Hi Mums, and maybe a few Dads? :)

My little boy is turning 1 year old.
I need to try and find a replacement for his formula.
He has a cow milk allergy, as do I and hubby.. so cannot even contemplate cow's milk.
He's on prescription formula currently.
I'm wondering what options I have, or if anyone else has this problem and what they used ? I've read soya milk contains an oestrogen like hormone so I'm unsure if this is harmful for him?

I have an appointment with the Health Visitor in about a month but I'm just wondering !

Thanks everyone x

We use Oatly Barista milk, DD loves it and I've completely stopped using cow milk for all cooking since finding it a few years ago. Check for added calcium and vitamin D and make sure your son gets plenty of protein from other sources.

Your lo should be under a paediatrician dietitian. Once he gets to one then he needs 350mg of calcium a day and a source of iodine. We use oatley barista but the new alpro oat growing up milk (only in Sainsbury) has twice the amount of iodine.

In your position I'd probably discuss the next steps with GP / paediatrician or dietician as appropriate. The type of formula he's currently on, might guide the "safest" next steps, or you might be told that it's best to keep him on that for another year?

[long ago and in another country, I was drinking prescription soy milk from tins till I was about 12, when it started to become commercially available]
