bloodshot eyes: newborn - how long does it last?

DD is now 1 week old and the red marks in each eye (on the white of the eye) like half moons, are still as prominent as they were on day 1.

MW said they would clear up after a few days. I know they are caused by birth trauma.

How long do they really take to go away, and do they ever remain permanent?

thankyou
