10 day old baby, constantly trumping but writhing in pain with ?trapped wind - baby burps okay - all seems to be lower down. have tried MAM anti colic bottles with infacol and comfort milk on midwives advice - have today tried Dr Brown bottles - how long do I need to wait to see if things are working and has anyone any advice. Hate seeing my baby in pain. Thanks in advance x

Please ask to see GP. sounds like possible cow milk allergy so no matter how much infacol and changing bottles it wont resolve the problem.
My baby had it and the GP first prescribed gaviscon etc but didn't help with it or horrendous reflux. Hw would cry and grunt for hours trying to poo poor bub.He was projectile vomiting after each feed but it all startedwith the symptoms your little one has. They put him on prescription formula and it helped a lot. We had to trial 5 milks over 7 months until we found one that he didnt react to at all.

My LO was like this, I had to do bicycle legs, and lifting knees to tummy to help him pass some wind.

Thanks for your reply - going to see the GP this afternoon so he can have a look at her. Not feeling hopeful though as on the phone he was basically saying it’s just being a newborn baby. I can’t get her to settle to sleep as she’s in so much pain so she never gets any rest. She will pass wind and then 20 minutes later we’re back in the same cycle. It’s horrible to see I don’t know what else to do with her :(

As above could well be cow's milk protein allergy or trouble digesting formula.

Given she is so young might you consider giving breastfeeding a go? You'd need some specialist support to establish it at this stage? But if it is CMPA then breastfeeding and cutting dairy out your diet could make it much easier to manage longer term. I appreciate it isn't always an option though, just thought it worth putting out there as an idea.

Hi, it will take a while for anything you try as things like infacol need to build up so that they are actually working as they should.

I would personally go for dentinox as it was the only thing that worked with my daughter. She had colic and it was horrendous.

Make sure that you are burping after every feed. See what the doctor says, they may advise a different milk

Check for tongue tie and posterior tongue tie they cause baby to gulp down air

I agree re tongue tie. Is baby showing any symptoms of tongue tie?

Bigoldmachine · 03/12/2021 12:17
