CMPA and silent reflux

Hi everyone

My baby has suspected CMPA and silent reflux
Symptoms were:
Crying when feeding / refusing to suck
Mucusy poo
Excess wind
Gulping when led flat
Hiccups
Coughing when winded

We have been prescribed aptamil pepti 1 which has massively helped with wind and poo. However the reflux is still and issue, the amount she is drinking has reduced and she still screams when trying to feed her.

I have been prescribed gaviscon and told to just try 1 sachet and see if it makes a difference.

Has anyone any experience with using just 1 sachet per day? Did this prevent constipation and help reflux at all?

I’d say her symptoms are quite mild but of course I’m a FTM and don’t have much to compare to.

Thanks in advance

Gaviscon is well known for making babies constipated... My GP went straight to ranitdine (then omeprazole)for that reason with my cmpa and severe reflux baby.

Is the pepti 1 an amino acid formula? If it's been a few weeks and symptoms are ongoing, it might need changing. Have you actually tasted or smelled it? I've never found an allergy formula that didn't taste like vomit tbh - some people use vanilla extract or other flavourings to help mask it.

Ranitidine is a nolonger prescribed for children. It worked wonder for DD1 but it was just masking her allergy. Reflux can be very normal in young children and is a developmental issue with resolves its self but it can also be a sign of allergy.

Not all dairy free milks are actually fully dairy free. Join a Facebook cmpa group and ask for advice thwfr
