With DC1 I bought a thermos pot and used to take out small portions of lovingly prepared hot food from my weaning boom.

With DC2 I never took anything except small snacks. She ate what I ate. Admittedly this meant I ended up having a jacket potato with tuna nearly every lunchtime for months but still preferable to the faff I did with DC1. I highly recommend the 2nd approach.

I always took Avent pots of whatever I cooked at that age, blended veggies or similar. Mine was not feeding himself at 7m and neither is my second one, so it's spoon feeding mostly.

It depends how much they eat really, how long the trip is and all.

I found later on that carrot sticks, apple pieces, generally veggies and fruit to hold and nibble on while I pushed the pram worked well.

Cannot help with things you buy, but I am sure supermarkets must have baby food arranged in ages so something from the age group should be available no matter where you go, so you can just buy anything when you are out and about?

We didn’t get out much at that stage, lockdown and all that. But when we did I would heat up an Ella’s pouch and stick it in a thermos before we left home. Usually perfect temp by lunchtime.

It depends what kind of weaning you want to do. We did BLW so if we were taking lunch along I’d take the kind of stuff you mentioned or little finger sandwiches or a bit of pasta salad. If we were eating out, she’d have a bit of what was on my plate. 7 months they don’t have loads anyway but that soon changes, my greedy guts polished off a whole kids meal at Frankie and Benny’s on her first birthday.
