Teething, virus or something else?

Sorry it's lengthy!

Just looking for some advice... Thought DS was teething (he's 10 months). He's already got 7 teeth and previously he's never had the bad nappies when teething, just gets a red cheek, is drooley and fussy, puts fingers in his mouth etc.

Since Sunday eve he's had really watery poop 4/5 times a day. On Monday / Tuesday he didn't have any other symptoms and was fine in himself. Rang HV just to check as he'd gone off food and formula and we agreed it sounded like teething and to see what happens in 24-48 hours.

Anyway skip to today and we're still getting lots of big watery poops each day but he also seems to be having tummy trouble too since Weds. I keep catching him wincing in pain and he keeps arching his back and then hunching over like it hurts. He's also getting lots of gas both ends.

I've been giving him calpol when it seems really bad and he's completely inconsolable, just to try and help get some water and toast in him and settle him.

He has no temp, no sickness. Today he's really bad, woke up screaming. Screams if I put him down and when he's sitting on my lap he just keeps crying on and off Sad he was hungry this morning, had his morning milk and toast for breakfast but this seemed to set his stomach off again and we had watery poop again this morning. But this morning he's also got two very bright red cheeks but no temp.

I'm awaiting a call back from the Dr today for him so hopefully we'll get some answers, but I'm just baffled tbh, and I feel useless because I don't know what's wrong and therefore how to fix it.

What do you guys think /anyone had the same? Teething or virus /stomach bug? Or something else? Has anyone's LO had diarrhea like this for a week and it been teething in the end or a bug without temp or sickness?

My DD (18 months) had similar symptoms last week including the diarrhoea, everyone kept saying teething but I wasn’t convinced. She didn’t eat for a week so I took her GP and turned out she had an ear infection and her throat was red raw.

@Vicky1989x thanks for replying! It's so horrible isn't it Sad

We had a drs appointment on Friday afternoon. They checked his tummy and ears / throat etc and couldn't see / find anything obviously wrong. Said just to keep an eye, ensure he's hydrated and if it persists (has to be 7 days or more of watery stools) they'd test a stool sample this week.

DS seems much better now, no more obvious tummy pain, stomach seems to have settled and his appetite has returned with a vengeance. Hoping this is the end of it and whatever it was has now passed!
