Newborn with covid!

So unfortunately my almost 2 month old has tested positive for covid. I am absolutely terrified as i lost my dad nearly 2 years ago to covid. I have been in contact with the doctors and they have obviously said to keep an eye on him etc. They said that he should be fine as newborns have been reported to just have cold symptoms which is what he is experiencing!

I feel completely helpless because he isn't himself at all. He wakes up really upset from a nap and sometimes even cuddle don't help :(

Has anyone been through this before or recently? Is there anything I can do?

We caught it when DS was 4 months and he was fine, bit of a cough for a couple of weeks but no different from a cold. Me & DH were far sicker. I know a couple of other families who caught it as new babies and they are all fine.

Just keep an eye on him, you can give Calpol from 2 months if over 4kg so that might help with the symptoms.

The main thing to monitor is how much baby is feeding and also how many wet and dirty nappies. It’s also important monitor temperature and breathing.

The majority of babies and young children are absolutely fine. However, any concerns at all then please contact someone for advice/ reassurance. This little they will most likely be very cautious.

Unfortunately, is very normal for babies to be fussy and cry a lot when they are feeling under the weather. It’s the only way they can let you know they don’t feel well. It must be very hard for them as they will not understand what is wrong and you can’t really explain to them.

It’s horrible, but hopefully he will be feeling better soon. The best thing you can do is just offer lots snuggles and try and keep to your normal routine as much as possible.

My dd had it at 5 months, she had a bit of a temp and was fussy. The main issue was that she had diarrhea for 5 days.
