Poo talk getting me down :(

Just that really.
How on earth do I get my 4 year old to stop talking about poo? It's seriously getting me down. Everything resorts back to poo and wee. He will randomly walk round and say "I'm pooing"... when he's upsets he'll shout "I'm gonna poo on your face" etc.
He's such a silly little thing and finds poo hilarious... as most boys do... but he's taken it too far!
I've spoke To him about it but I just can't get there poo talk to stop!

I tend to let a lot wash over me ( nursery nurse) but if I am fed up of it I ban the word. This usually makes them laugh as they try and fail to get round the ban. We all end up laughing and then I would distract them with a new activity.

It the "I'm gonna poo on you" "I'm gonna poo on my teacher" "I'm gonna poo on cousin" when he gets upset which bothers me the most because he's using it aggressively! Does that make sense?
I just hate it!

I feel your pain OP

I try to just ignore it

I would join in on the joke, he will find it hilarious and it will take the power out of it for him. If you say in a pretend shocked silly voice "you're going to POO on your COUSIN ewwwwww are you going to poo on their head???" etc he will fall about laughing and he will stop using it as an attempt to be aggressive.
There's no way you can stop 4 year olds being obsessed with poo so your best bet is to reframe it. I join in with all the poo jokes with mine

I bought mine a whoopee cushion at that sort of age and we used to fall about laughing doing it time and time again, saying things like " ewww, you pooed" for ages.
I actually think at points I was worse than them.
They soon grew out of it, but I'm not sure I did Grin

Ignore him. Don't react. Don't make him think he's is clever.

He started doing it because poo talk was daring and then he found that it gets a response from you. He knows it annoys you. So now, when he's cross and wants to upset you or get your attention, he knows talking about poo will work.

Ignore it, carry on normal conversation as if you hadn't heard him, don't react at all, and he will soon get bored and look for another way to elicit a reaction.

DD is the same but with penis and vagina

Confused

Hopefully she'll grow out of it
