Hi, I have a 16 month old girl who used to be great at going to sleep in her own room / cot. The last few weeks have turned on it's head and she now cries (meltdown) when either I or my wife leave the room after putting her down. We can get her to sleep by staying in the room and rubbing her back until she drifts off, then sneaking out. But she will wake in the night / early hours, realise we arnt there and meltdown. This is only solved at the moment by sleeping on her floor which isnt a habit we want to continue!
I've read about the Jo Frost timed controlled crying method and wonder if this has worked for anyone? Is this method for young babies or does it apply to toddler age? It says about entering the room after 2 minutes, putting baby back down, leave the room, double the time, repeat until the baby goes to sleep. How long should you do this before it gets "mean" ie if it doesnt work after an hour surely its not going to work?!
Any advice appreciated! Thanks, James
