Terrible advice from a book!

My daughter brought a book from school. It scares me what you read in some children books...... as if kids need further help in doing naughty things

I'd see it as an opportunity to explore actions and consequences with your child Smile

(looks at mattress to decide if it's worth the bother putting in the shower...do I need to know what it's like to sleep in the rain?!) Grin

Please tell me you aren't scared by one small sentence of whimsy in a baby book

Come on OP

Aquamarine1029 · 25/11/2021 04:55

FFS.

Starcaller · 25/11/2021 05:52

Truly terrifying. I hope you managed to get some sleep after reading that.

furbabymama87 · 25/11/2021 05:56

What book is that? Looks very familiar.

Draggondragon · 25/11/2021 05:57

This is presumably a joke. Otherwise really worrying. Isn't being naughty OK anymore?

RedRobin100 · 25/11/2021 05:58

Omg burn it quick before anyone else reads it!!

Being naughty is ok-ish. Good luck to you if your child puts their mattress in the shower for fun Hmm where are they going to sleep? How are you going to dry the damn thing?! Or the pillow? Or duvet?

And, definitely yes, I would never buy a book that suggested something like this.

LuchiMangsho · 25/11/2021 09:49

It’s fine. My 4 year old knows right from wrong and a silly suggestion in a book like this would make him laugh not take an actual mattress to the shower? (How would they even do that physically??)

3WildOnes · 25/11/2021 09:55

I doesn’t sound like it is giving advice. You are being ridiculous OP. If your children can read this book then I am sure they are aware of the consequences of putting their bedding in the shower. To be honest when my children were reading books like this they wouldn’t have had the strength to drag their mattresses into the bathroom but they just also wouldn’t have done it because they wouldn’t want a wet bed.

Glenthebattleostrich · 25/11/2021 09:59

How exactly do you think a 4 year old is going to drag a mattress to the shower and turn the shower on, let alone do it without an adult noticing?

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 25/11/2021 10:03

Im lolling at how seriously you've taken this book OP. Calm down.

Motherland101 · 25/11/2021 10:04

If this isn't a joke (which I really hope it is!!) then I sincerely feel sorry for your kids. You sound so much fun! 🙌🏻🤦🏼‍♀️

Unless your child is the incredible hulk, I think you'll be OK
ShinyHappyPoster · 25/11/2021 10:07

I don't think I could drag my mattress into the shower so I wouldn't expect a DC to manage it. Just as they wouldn't really be able to kick a ball to the moon.

notthemum · 25/11/2021 11:04

Yep. I definately couldn't drag my mattress to the shower not even a single one. I certainly couldn't lift it over the bath and if i managed that I then couldn't reach to turn the shower on.
As for kicking/throwing a ball to the moon if our professional football players could do that then I'm sure they would be on even more money than they are now.
Please be joking OP.

Draggondragon · 26/11/2021 13:13

Don't ever read the Mary Mary books. You would have an attack of the vapours Grin
