Baby has lost weight

My 10 month old has lost weight due to his eczema. He weighed 7.3kg when he was last weighed at 9 months. His nappy seems to be getting more lose around his waist. We are controlling the eczema with steroids.

I’m finding that his face becomes inflamed due to a number of foods. He is allergic to dairy, and possibly soya. Almost every fruit flares up his eczema.

I have started adding oat milk to his oats in the morning to add more calories.

I am offering him breast milk all the time, but he’ll only latch on for a few minutes.

What else can I do?

Have you had him weighed again? They do have growth spurts where they go long and thin as well as becoming slimmer looking with more movement. It might not be as bad as you think but if it's too much weight loss they can give advice.

Are you getting him regularly weighed? Has he been seen by a paediatrician or his paediatric dietitian since the weight loss?

Have you given him nuts yet? Nut butters are high is fat.
