Tell me about your 1 year old (any Nov 2020 babies?)

My DS has just turned 1 (Nov 2020 baby 😊) and we don’t know any other kids of the same age. We go to a toddlers group 3x per week where there are around 20 children which is lovely but there are 5/6 that are 9 months or younger and the rest are 19/20 months to 3 years.

I guess I’m just curious what your little ones are like at this age? 😊 Would be nice to speak to other parents at the same stage as us!
Walking? Talking? How did weaning go for you? Are you starting to see their little personality emerge? What are you finding tough at this stage?

DS is walking really well and has a fair few words at the moment. Endlessly obsessed with the buses that pass our lounge window and will stop whatever he’s doing to loudly announce “BUUUU” at every one that passes 🤣 He loves his food and eats really well which I’m so grateful for after struggling for months with a reflux baby at the start 😓 I’m definitely starting to see a stubborn personality appear and he’s definitely starting to test his limits with certain things - hes started biting (thankfully only DH and I) which is really frustrating and we’re struggling a bit with that at the moment! He’s also pushing to transition to one nap already but not quite managing it yet so his sleep is a bit of a challenge again but hoping things will improve soon 😬🤞🏼

September 2020 baby here and sounds really similar apart from not walking yet. We have a couple of words "dog" and "duck" and getting there with using mama and Dada correctly. Also a good eater now but definitely had a slow start with weaning and didn't eat much at all until about 10 months. She's definitely showing more personality and is very stubborn and doesn't want help with anything. She's also bitten me a few times this week. I don't know whether to ignore it or say a stern no? We've been down to one long nap for a few months now.

November 2020 baby here!

She’s lovely! Walking confidently for about a month now, verging on running which is terrifying. Our eldest didn’t walk until 17 months so we were a bit unprepared! She’s very noisy and shouts ‘da’ and points whenever she wants something. Boobs are ‘ba’. She says mama, dada, brother (rather than his name weirdly!) and Rara (rabbit). She’ll eat anything you put in front of her, is a hilariously enthusiastic eater, and regularly steals snacks from her older brother. She loves dogs, she says ‘oof oof’, and can be conned into staying still for a few minutes if you show her videos of them - she likes a Labrador or German shepherd best. She loves coffee - having let her have a sip of mine (cold obviously) thinking it would put her off… on reflection a massive error. She loves songs with actions.

Also down to one nap… have been since about 9 months. She’s not a daytime sleeper… or a nighttime sleeper tbh.

Nov 2020 here, just got the hang of walking in the last two weeks or so. Has a few words, including peekboo, brother, bubbles, byebye. Mamma mamma mamma mamma means 'mum' or 'Hey, I'm generally unhappy with what's going on here!'

Night sleeping has gone to shit a bit, he only really settles in bed with us. And omg the biting! It doesn't happen often, but when it does he's vicious and very directed! He definitely gets a very stern no for that.

Also hands in everything. Toilet, cat litter. He does give the best hugs, lies his face on the cat and looks as happy as anything. He also adores it when I hide and peekaboo out at him. Especially if I manage to give him a little fright! He also loves music, he got lots of little instruments for his birthday and will play with them for ages.

Ha @KeyLimeFly, just read that your little one says brother instead of name too!!

@Pandemicpregnancy That’s what we’ve been wondering too! Everything I’ve read says to ignore biting but it bloody hurts and my automatic reaction is always “NO!” 🤣

@KeyLimeFly We have a confident walker here too 😅 started about 10.5 months and by 11 months was walking 90% of the time 😬 he’s also a VERY ambitious climber which is terrifying 🙈 I’m still waiting patiently for Mama 🙄🤣 Dada has been being used correctly for a couple of months now. We also have Dog, BaBa (banana), cup, car, toe, knee, head, ba (ball/bath/balloon 🤣) and various animal noises. Yours sounds like mine with the eating 🤣

@Anotherboy Seems like the biting is a common issue 😬 hopefully it’s a short phase for us all 🤞🏼My DS loves to give kisses...very slobbery open mouthed ones...but also loves biting your nose so you’re never quite sure what one he’s going in for 🙈🤣 omg, YES to the hands in everything 🙈 we haven’t had hands in the toilet yet but he’s obsessed with trying to out anything he can get his hands on in the bath or the toilet!
