Baby boy tips

We have a little girl already (3.5yrs).

We have a little boy on the way, I’m just looking for any tips from boy mums for the newborn stage?

I’m sure this sounds like a weird request but a friend told me to cover their willy when they get their nappy changed as the cold air can make them pee. 😂

So just thought I’d ask some experienced mums on here if there are any more little bits of advice you could share?

Thank you ❤️

You’re friend is right - you can get “pee pee wee” covers (I think that’s what they’re called) pretty cheap from amazon, stops the pee going everywhere.

Make sure everything is pointing downwards when you put a new nappy on, otherwise the wee comes straight out the top of the nappy!
Congratulations on your boy Smile

I think the above points cover the (only) difference in parenting needed according to sex.

I've had two girls .
I've got covered in wee both times 🤣😂
I'm not sure it makes much difference tbh.
Congratulations

Penis points down in nappy.

Both of mine - one of each - have peed as soon as the nappy comes off.

UniformSchmooniform · 23/11/2021 12:36

I never got peed on and I have two! Also I've never had pee on the bathroom floor and they're both teens now, I must be blessed Grin

I'd just say you don't have to get boring blue or beige clothes. I got bright colourful stuff from Scandinavian brands like Katvic El Sikke Lej and Smafolk.

Enjoy your boy! They're fabulous x

This and covering it asap every time are the most important points Grin I’m far from an experienced mum (my two week old pfb son is currently snoozing on my chest) but I honestly think that’s the only difference based on sex. Congratulations

When you undo the nappy expose then cover straight away to catch the pee.
Make sure you clean his penis properly due to foreskin etc.
Poop is very good at getting caught underneath the penis so wipe thoroughly

Make sure it’s always pointing down

aConcernedPrude · 23/11/2021 13:29

When you say 'cover straight away' after removing nappy do you mean with another nappy or muslin etc?

I also haven't got a clue and due a boy in a few weeks Blush

Pinktruffle · 23/11/2021 14:01

I just cover my boys up with a wipe. You can tell if he has pee'd as the wet wipe is warm 😂

YRGAM · 24/11/2021 12:16

Also, don't pull the foreskin back when washing his willy or let anything get underneath it.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 24/11/2021 13:28

We pull nappy down. Expose. Quickly cover over again (with same nappy as he wees) then can wipe clean and out new nappy on.

This did stop after about 4 months ish? With girls it floods more. Boys he could shoot a mile. (And in my eye more than once!!)

Penis pointing down when nappy on.

Other than that it’s all the same!

Congratulations.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 24/11/2021 13:29

Oh and when he gets a little erection don’t force it down wait for it to pass! Blush
