Cloth is over. I don't know if it is forever, but definitely for the forseeable future

So.

The various eco ones don't give a decent fit and I end up with poo up backs, or tabs breaking etc.

Pampers = Nice fit, stretchy sides, but feel sort of crunchy and cost a bit more.

Huggies = Stretch and fit not quite so good, but not crunchy as much and are a smidge cheaper.

Supermarket own = Not tried with nappies, but I know with pull ups I have always ended up back with pampers or huggies.

Is there some better nappy out there, or do I do the toss up depending on how I feel at the time?

We like Tescos best and pampers for night time. I tried Sainsburys and Morrisons once but they weren't as good fit, but every child is a different shape.

I'm going the opposite way to you flame, we're going to try cloth nappies while we are in the house.

crokky · 15/12/2007 15:32

I think Tesco's own brand (the superfit in the purple packet) are very good. I have tried Pampers and Huggies and much prefer Tesco's own.

crokky · 15/12/2007 15:33

But I am not so keen on the Tesco's own ones in the green packet.

Flame - T (same age) is in tesco 4+ if that helps.
what is the C4C reference re vests? T always has a popper vest on, and will all winter unless he potty trains himself (and ditto on your poo situation yesterday!)

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 15/12/2007 17:19

Cloth iois fab Meg

Chasingsquirrels - C4C is cut 4 cloth - they have bigger bums to accomodate a cloth nappy, so look weird with a disposable

Aww Flame!

I can't even put a bloody sposie on without it breaking. I think my DS is size 4 (granny buys them) in tescos and he's 13mo and approx 25lb but skinny (still in a lot of 6-9m clothes...even with a boostered fluffle

I have to wash mine in bio once a month as we keep getting soreness issues. Also, put pocket inserts in freezer for a few hours to kill off anything the 60 wash didn't get.

Hope you find a solution soon
x

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 15/12/2007 17:58

Oooh freezer sound intriguing!

NappiesGaloriaInExcelsis · 15/12/2007 18:19

flame! nooooo!

oh poor you.

lol at you breaking every fifth one... you have to be a bit less heavy handed with sposies

fwiw, we use/d nature baby size 4 or 4+ for nigthtimes as i think they are most absorbent and nights we only get wees

and pampers easy up pants size 4 or 4+ for daytimes.

when there was much heavy wetting at night for a while we used a nature with an easy up on top

size 4's much the same as 4+'s... esp in pampers as v stretchy... but marginally cheaper per nappy.

have found huggies to be much same as pampers, but avoid a bit after that bringing up baby prog

and of course, we use hardly any now. and if we use them on ds3 more than once in a while, he gets big weltsand v sore looking bits - i use a fleece liner inside when i put one on him

you can come and have that rummage in the barn for grown-out-of clothes not cut for cloth if you like!

tassisssss · 15/12/2007 18:31

we have simialr skin issues with dd

if we put her in disps overnight she's fine, but as soon as we switch back to cloth for 24 hours the "rash" is back. it's not really a rash, but sore red skin that covers the whole nappy are (so down sides of legs too)

we shame!

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 15/12/2007 19:15

@ rummaging in the barn for clothes! Psycho complained that DS had a girly vest on on Thursday (it had a dummy on it, apparently it was pink, I hadn't noticed)

OP posts:
NappiesGaloriaInExcelsis · 15/12/2007 19:41

as if he cares!

mine all like pink - that is until dp or dss shriek 'eur, pink is for girls' . they are getting the message now too, grrrrrrrr.

anyhoo

how is ds sleeping in his bunk now? did you get danglies?

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 15/12/2007 19:44

How rude! Askin a girl about her danglies!

Tort sent some stick on stars... that he ripped off in temper when he was put in his room for biting

He's doing fine now, falls out every now and then but is good character building stuff

He loves pink and sparkles anyway, he's perfectly happy in his vest

TheBlonde · 15/12/2007 19:49

tesco and sains own brand are both v good
I only buy pampers or huggies if I have a coupon or they are on offer

huggies pull ups are a bit better as they have velcro like stuff down the sides

I have tried nature, moltex and some other eco brand but they weren't as absorbant

NappiesGaloriaInExcelsis · 15/12/2007 19:52

good, glad to hear it

i have an idea about decorating under the bunk and nightlight in one, btw. just re-discovered our turtle light thingy which is rubbish when the turtle is ceiling height away from the ceiling (iyswim) but works brillianty under, or on top of, a bunk i have just discovered. turns itself off after 20 mins and is dull enough that it doesnt keep them awake, but bright enough to ward off ds2's 'ghosts'.

youve prob done xmas pressies by now, but heres the link anyway twilight turtle

mumbear · 15/12/2007 20:20

Must admit I do prefer pampers. Join their baby club they will send you lots of vouchers and samples. My DD is nearly 6 months and ive not yet paid full price for a pack of nappies!

peachygirl · 15/12/2007 20:25

I use Boots own and think they are very good. Somone on here posted that they thought they were made by huggies (although I don't know if this is true) You get double points on them too.

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 15/12/2007 20:27

F*ck it - I gave a load of vouchers away at babygroup a couple of weeks ago

The tutrle looks looooooooooooovely. Maybe for his birthday....

NappiesGaloriaInExcelsis · 15/12/2007 20:32

the ad/packaging (on the turtle) are a bit rubbish actually, as it leads you to think its like a planetarium in your bedroom and its rather more...basic than that. but it is a lovely nightlight.

ib · 15/12/2007 20:33

I've used moltex on occasion which are rubbish for containment but don't have that horrible plasticky feel. I put an airflow wrap on top to contain leaks which seems to work (mostly)

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 15/12/2007 20:39

Lol, I just looked at it as a lightin up turtle ;)
