Chickenpox or HFM?

Hi there,

My 11 month old has come out in these spots. He had a terrible time over the weekend with fever and that, but he seems a bit better now.

We sent photos to his doctor, who said it looks/sounds like chicken pox, but I'm not so sure.

I don't know if he's got blisters in his mouth, but he the spots are mainly around his lower tummy, genital and leg areas. Nothing on his palms or soles. He does have a couple on his hands, but none on his feet or face.

Thoughts?

They do look very similar to when my toddler had HFM in the summer, he got them on his back and legs too but also hands, feet and mouth, I think the obvious indication it was HFM was that the spots didn’t spread, he had big patches of skin with no rash whereas chickenpox I assume covers them completely. The spots didn’t look as painful as I imagine chickenpox would be.

HFM was fine for us, he became ill Sunday and was back in nursery with no rash/temp/illness of any kind by Thursday.

Got him vaccinated against chickenpox. Cba with that!
