still not crawling

My 7.5 month old DS has been fixated on trying to crawl since he was 2 months old but he’s still not crawling. He can roll both ways and reach for toys from a sitting position, but he can’t get onto all fours and he can’t bum shuffle or belly crawl or pivot. It’s difficult to get the housework done because he always wants some toy that’s out of reach and goes absolutely berserk trying to get to it so I constantly have to run back and forth to hand him toys.

He has been able to stand with support since he was 6 weeks old and he’s been early with all his other milestones. I don’t know if his size is holding him back; he’s 99th centile for height and between the 75th and 91st centiles for weight and he wears 12-18 month clothing.

7.5mths is still early. Mine rolled and sat unsupported early but was nearly 10mths before he figured out crawling. They’re all so different.

I do understand not being able to get on with anything though. I couldn’t do anything pre-crawling. DS wanted me sat with him, passing toys and interacting with him all the time. Despite everyone telling me it would be harder, I found it significantly easier once he was crawling. He was suddenly able to entertain himself. He’ll happily follow me from room to room and explore whilst I tidy/clean/sort laundry and can keep an eye on him.
