Is this crawling?

My daughter is 9 months and a week ago started crawling but on her tummy, pulling herself forward with her arms and pushing with knees and feet. She still gets on all fours and rocks, but hasn't started crawling like I imagine crawling.

So, is this crawling? And do babies usually transition to crawling with their tummy off the floor?

Seems a lot of effort for her to crawl on her tummy

My DC1 only ever commando crawled. He was ridiculously fast.

It's called commando crawling. For their 1 year checkup it counts as crawling. My son never properly crawled went from this to walking

That sounds like commando crawling, both mine did that and the rocking then crawled. DD moved onto proper crawling within a few days whereas DS took a couple of weeks

Commando crawling, as pp said. Mine both started with this and progressed to the traditional crawl.

Same. So speedy with it!

Oooh thanks

I guess we shall see if she transitions to a traditional crawl or not
