Do you still use a breastfeeding pillow?

I can't live without mine! My boobs are so ginormous it's really tricky for me to get a decent latch without it. I can only do a football hold as well as in a normal cross cradle hold my nipples are dangling down by my belly button and they're at an incredibly awkward angle for a comfortable latch. However it does mean I have to carry the blimming thing with me everywhere I go. I also get a lot of funny looks including ones from other mums. Help me feel better. Is anyone else doing this? With an 8 month old?

Have you tried positions like laid back, or any other different positions that baby can comfortably latch in, seeing as baby is 8 months so a bit bigger and more mobile? Or try a cradle hold, so you have your other hand free to move your breast if needed? Cross cradle can be the most awkward position if you need a free hand for anything else.

Cradle and cross cradle really don't work for us. Maybe I have oddly positioned nipples..

Just enjoy your feeding, if it works for you keep going. I know it's not portable and probably not like everyone else does it but your baby is getting the best start to life thanks to you and your ginormous boobs Smile

So have you tried laid back feeding? I didn't say try cross cradle, I agreed it's awkward, just thought cradle hold might help some bit as you've a free hand to move your breast if needed.

@professionalnomad I still use mine! Big boobed Mum here 😂 I find it also makes night time feeds more comfortable!

I fed till 9 months in football hold, I didn't take my pillow everywhere, but I did always use something. So a bag and a blanket, or a big scarf and an arm rest. It was easier to use a few pillows though!

I use it at home , manage without it if we are out
It's just a rectangle cushion not a breastfeeding specific one

Not me, but I remember a mum at the breastfeeding support cafe who had large breasts and nipples that tended to point downwards was advised to roll up a small flannel sized towel and put it under her breast to feed. It made her breasts generally more lifted and pointed her nipples up more, meaning she could get a latch much more easily. Her baby was actually around a year at the point i met her, so it had definitely been helpful for her and would be less annoying than carrying your pillow. Otherwise, forget about what others may think, if it works for you and your baby then crack on!
