I’m 6 weeks pregnant & I started taking calcium supplements. Will this harm my baby?

I started taking Pregnacare vitamins the moment I found out I was pregnant, about a week ago now.
I struggle with receding gums eventhough I’m just 19 and I’m experiencing nausea, therefore, I can’t bring myself to eat enough at the moment. I drank milk every night for 4 nights and every time I think of it now, I feel like throwing up. So today, I bought some calcium tablets that are 400mg per tablet, I took 2. They aren’t exclusively for pregnant women, and it says on the bottle to consult a doctor if pregnant before taking them. I ate some cheese today and some broccoli, the recommended daily amount of calcium for a pregnant woman is 1000 mg. The supplements plus what I ate should come to 1000 or perhaps slightly over.

This won’t harm my baby, will it?
I’m so scared of losing my teeth, the smell of food makes me gag and I wouldn’t get enough nutrients without the supplements.

I think it's just vitamin A that us bad for pregnant women. There is probably calcium in the Pregnacare. Lots of women struggle to eat a balanced diet in early pregnancy - I ate mostly low fat chips and ice-pops for two months in my second pregnancy! I would see your doctor about the sickness though - there are medications available. I was prescribed cyclizine and stemetil for my nausea (I didn't take them together - the cyclizine didn't do enough so I changed to stemetil).

Hello, thank you for your reply. I just checked the Pregnacare box and there’s no calcium in there (and no vitamin A, fortunately).
I definitely wouldn’t be getting enough calcium without the supplements, so I doubt it would be doing any damage by taking them. I guess it’s because I’m a first time mom, I’m just very worried
