Self soothing..

How do you get a nearly 1 year old to self soothe?

Have previously posted that he’s a crap napper, tried going down to one nap he still needs the two.

Bedtime is around 7/7:30, he has a bottle on me sticks his dummy in as soon as he’s finished and we have a little cuddle then I put him in his cot.
He wakes a couple of times before we go to bed and I have to cuddle him back to sleep (as I am now been in bed since 7)

Then he wakes around midnight and I just put him in our bed (naughty I know) and he sleeps fine till 7/7:15

I just want to know if anyone has successfully got their LO to self soothe. I would kind of like to know that I’m putting him to bed and he’s going to sleep soundly for a good few hours.

Just feel like he’s not getting quality sleep 😩

What worked for me was;
White noise and the disappearing chair.
I also used to cuddle to sleep and I started dropping a cuddle if that makes sense every few days.
So for the cuddles I got rid of I would just go in pat his back and shush and go out.
If he cried I went in and did cuddle but most of the time he would just have a little winge and lie back down.

Thing is he'll know he'll be coming into your bed so I think you need to stop that so he's used to his own bed.

Doesn't happen over night so you'll have afew rough nights.

If his naps aren't good an earlier bedtime might help as he could be waking due to being over tired. Again that takes afew days to become effective.

I bring him in just so he doesn’t wake our oldest crying and so we can all sleep for work and school the next day.

He just cries hysterically as soon as you lie him down

Yeah I totally get that.

He has sleep associated with you and being near you, so if your wanting him to self settle you will have to break that.
