1 year old routine advice

Hey everyone, DS has just turned one and his routine looks like this

7am: 11oz bottle
8:30-9am: Breakfast
12pm: Lunch
5pm: Tea
6:30pm - 11oz bottle

He's not had cows milk as a drink yet, how much should I give him? Should I replace a bottle with a cup of milk? He doesn't seem very hungry by breakfast and I'm wondering if it's because he has a bottle in the morning. He has yogurt, milk in his porridge and cheese regularly.

We just did a straight swap to cows milk in her bottles first, then reduced/ dropped the morning bottle.

She refuses to drink milk from a cup but does still have a bottle before bed although yes you are supposed to switch to a cup, we just haven't managed it yet. Nowhere near 11 ozil though, more like 6 and I'm going to start bringing that down I think.

If he's not hungry at breakfast I'd definitely try either giving breakfast first (with milk in a cup if he will accept it) or at.least reducing the amount.

They're supposed to be getting most if not all their nutrients from food now rather than milk, obviously it's not always so straightforward but if you think of that being the aim and then try to move towards it however suits your little one best I think.

You could try breakfast on waking then a mid morning snack which could involve a cup of milk?

I would offer a cup (150ml) of cows milk alongside breakfast and no more milk until the formula or cows milk at bedtime.

11oz seems like a hell of a lot of milk before breakfast!

This is great advice thanks everyone. So only formula at bedtime then? I was thinking that too. 11oz is a lot you're right he's always drank a lot of milk as he was born huge. I will try giving him a snack too as sometimes I wonder if there is too big a gap between his meals.

I got so stuck in "milk is most nutritious before 1" that I put it above all else, silly really.

This is the routine I would aim for:
7am wake and breakfast eg porridge with blueberries, mashed banana on toast, scrambled egg and toast
9.30am fruit snack
11.30 lunch including protein eg fish pie and then fruit purée

12 -2.30 nap
2.30 yoghurt and rice cakes
5pm carb-based dinner eg baby pasta with veggie sauce then fruit purée and baby biscuits
6pm bath
6.30 bottle
7pm bed
