Making formula out

If I take a flask of freshly boiled water out, one sterlie bottle and one sterile bottle with cooled boiled water, what amount of boiling water do I add to the bottle and what amount of cooled boiled water? For a 5oz feed?

First time venturing out tomorrow!

Thank you

Depending on where you're going, I used to take measured out cooled boiled water, pot of formula and then ask for boiling water from a cafe near by. Put the formula into the boiling water, then add the cool. Then that bottle could be used for boiling water again if you're out for long enough. I used to do about 2 thirds cool, 1 third hot.

I thought about this very question for ages and ages. I go out with:

  1. a thermos of boiling water
  2. a sterilised bottle already containing x ml of cooled boiling water (put boiling water in the bottles then let it cool and then put them in the fridge) with a screw top lid
  3. box with three individual openings for the exact amount of powder formula
  4. an empty sterilised bottle

To make 210ml formula (sorry don't know ounces) I have 160ml cooled boiling water in the bottle.

Method is:

Put 50ml boiling water from the thermos into the empty sterilised bottle. add the powder. Remove the screw cap from the bottle with the cooled boiling water. Put the screw cap on the bottle with boiling water and formula. Shake shake shake. Then put the cooled boiled water into that bottle and pop the top with the teat on.

I guess it's 1/4 boiling to 3/4 cooled previously boiled.

My DD is on 5oz, I do 1.5oz hot and 3.5oz cold when out. I watched to see how much the perfect prep dispenses.

Put the hot water straight into the flask from the kettle, the cold flask will cool it down anyway.

I do exactly the same method when I’m out and about - bit of a faff but I know it works, basically tried to replicate the hot shot to cooled water ratio of the perfect prep machine!
