Swaddle to Sleeping bag

Hi all,

Does anyone have any advice on transitioning baby from swaddled sleep to sleeping bag. Have read about allowing baby to have 1 arm for a period of time out of the swaddle and then the other arm. We’ve been trying this but finding he’s really unsettled (understandably). We’ve tried the tommee Tippee bags with the arm poppers and the love to dream transition bags too but he’s not keen at all and will only sleep a few hours at a time almost napping instead of a sleep I’m worried I’m going to disturb his bedtime routine because he’s been doing so well going down to sleep at 9 until 5/6am.

Also in the middle of a sleep regression phase according to health visitor. He’s 15 weeks old. Any advice would be great thank you.

Hello! We also used the tommee tippee snuggle bags with the poppers at the arms.

We tried an arm out really early on and my daughter had such an awful night's sleep..I think at 3 months from memory...I felt so so bad about it

It was just too soon so we waited until she had grown out of the startle reflex a bit more and was closer to rolling. By then she was pushing to get put of the bag so arms out was a bit easier. I think I started with day naps then night once she was used to having arms out

We just switched and it was fine tbh

Amazing, thank you I’ll try with afternoon naps! We’ve tried the tommee Tippee bags but he’s too big for them :( (he’s 17lbs at 15weeks). So struggling to find a transitional one to fit him. He’s just started being interested in rolling over but still has quite a bad startle reflex, so might be worth me holding off a little while until he’s got the knack of rolling a bit more and stuff.

We used the love to dream swaddle followed by the love to dream transition bag. I won’t lie to you it was a terrible two weeks watching her flail the free arm around slapping herself in the face with it etc. She was up countless times in the night having previously been a 12 hours straight sleeper. But, it did pass after two weeks. So just hang in there! We didn’t transition until she could roll (around 5 months) so I would consider leaving it a bit longer if your LO isn’t rolling
