Hi,
So our lo is nearly 11 months old and over the past few days she's been fighting her naps, especially the afternoon one.

She wakes around 6.30ish and her 1st nap she usually goes up about 9am she wakes between 10.30/10.45 her 2nd nap she goes up at 2pm until around 3.30/3.45 and bedtime is at 7pm.

The past few days seemed to have gone right out the window... she take a good 20-30mins to go to sleep on her 1st nap and the 2nd nap its even longer, she really fights this 2nd nap - yesterday it took a good 1hr and 20mins before she went to sleep today has taken so far 1hr 10mins.. and she's still fighting it!! Its pushing her nap later which then pushes her bedtime back later 🙈

Before this we could put her up for her nap and within 10 mins she'd be asleep.

I've read that they don't tend to drop to 1 nap until after they turn 1 it seems to early to drop her to 1 nap just yet?
She could possibly push to 3.5/4hrs (which she has been the last few days between nap 1 & 2)

We did drop her to 2 naps at 8.5 months as she was continuously fighting that 3rd cat nap of the day and brought her bedtime forward by 30mins and she was doing fine with that.

Please help x

Drop the morning nap and see what happens.

You'll probably need to move the lunchtime nap earlier too.

Don't get bogged down in 'they don't do this until that age', parent the child you have, follow her cues. If she's 11 months we're talking 4 weeks until she's 12 months? It's not far off is it?

Try push each nap back slightly. So first nap at 9:30 and second nap at 2:30. At that age my DD would do 9:30-11 and then 2:30-4.

When mine was this age and started doing this I pushed the morning nap time back by an hr and made that the main nap of the day. Then the afternoon nap was perhaps 20mins in the pram just to see him through.

Looking back this was really the start of him moving to one nap a day. In the end he didnt need the pram nap and the awake stretch in the morning got longer.

@NuffSaidSam your quite right, sometimes I read too much into things 🙈 shes my first so this is all new to me!

@Vicky1989x I did just say this to my husband, maybe her wake window is stretching abit and she isn't quite ready for a nap at the times we was putting her down.

You have 2 choices:

Either push morning nap on to 9:30/10 eventually becoming 11-1 or 12-2 and make the afternoon nap later and shorter, eventually dropping it completely.

Or wake from morning nap after 30 mins/45 minutes to preserve long afternoon sleep.
