Hi mums, my 6 weeks old sleeps all the time, he wakes up for feeds every 3 hours but falls asleep after. I’d say the longest he was wake was maybe 1,5 hour. I would say he sleeps 20 hours a day. He eats fine, had his 6 weeks check up and recently been in hospital with RSV so his bloods were checked for absolutely everything and he is totally fine. But it worries me that he sleeps so much! He seems fine development wise- bats his hands at toys, smiles a lot when awake and started making “talking” noises. My other son was totally different at this age,he was very alert and was and still is absolutely wild 2 year old.

Sounds totally fine to me, babies that age don't generally stay up beyond 2 hours or they get overtired

For me a nappy and feed takes about an hour, then half hour play/interaction and by that time he's clearly ready to nap

My babies were exactly them same. Enjoy it!

My DS was and is like your first OP. I still can’t quite believe it when I meet a proper sleepy newborn Grin

Thanks all, it’s reassuring to hear. We don’t have any friends with small babies so we can naturally only compare him to our first DS who was totally different at every aspect. He was a huge unit- 90 centile, gulping 150 mil at 2 weeks etc 😂 DS2 is chilled, calm and a standard size sleepy baby so my husband keeps worrying and keeps saying he is very small. But he is completely standard size, just compared to DS1 every baby is small! I will enjoy the sleepiness for now and I’m sure he will become more alert in a few weeks
