13 month old not sleeping and I'm losing my mind

My 13 month is awake for hours during the night and I can't cope anymore. He has never been a good sleeper and when this started I put it down to a leap / teething / illness etc. but it has been going on for more than a month (on top of poor sleep for a year) and I've reached my limit. Please help!

He has been awake for the past 3 hours. He will cry if I leave the room but even being held / or patted will not settle to sleep.

Either naps for 30 minutes in the morning plus 1.5 hours at lunch. Or if misses the morning nap or somehow manages to wake later than 6am then will have a 2 hour lunchtime nap, maybe 2.5 hours.

I have started putting him down in the cot at night 'sleepy and awake' and with me coming in and out (often with hand on back) falls asleep in the cot.

What can I do? I can't describe how exhausted I am plus back at work and have a toddler. He's just AWAKE.

Have you tried cranial osteopathy?

My DS was the same at around that age and it was horrific! Eventually stoped, I think when he dropped reliably to one nap but I think it was also linked to new skill development around talking and moving. I wish I’d just whacked the tv on for him whilst I dozed next to him as NOTHING I tried worked. Sorry that isn’t helpful but you aren’t alone and you aren’t doing anything wrong. (He’s now 3.5 and a good sleeper! It does end)

@IReallyCan what would that do? I haven't!

@Amammai thank you, at least it passes.

He is a good baby in the day, eats well etc but I'm at a total loss. After writing the OP he went off about 3.30am and was awake again at 5.15am. Currently sat on the floor with my hand on him again at 6am hoping he goes back to sleep.

I have spent less than 3 hours in my bed tonight 😭

Is he walking? They are sometimes like this just before they walk.

Would be sleep if you put him in bed with you?

Another thing to try is reducing the afternoon nap to 1.5 hours abs a slightly later bedtime.

I was very much a disbeliever in what I thought was quackery, but we had really good result with the whole family including when one DC started having four hours night wakenings after chicken pox. Confused
