Help! 12 month old sleep issues

This is probably a rant more than anything, but maybe someone has survived this?

I have a wonderful 12 month old DS. He’s such a great little boy but he never stops moving. This really is an issue during sleep and it’s killing me. He goes for a two hour nap in the morning, then he goes to bed at quarter past seven and is asleep by half past seven. I may get three hours out of him before he wakes or it could be as little as ten minutes. The problem is that he never stops moving. I put him in his cot once he’s asleep and he rolls and wriggles constantly. He gets wedged sideways, rolls into the sides or moves from the bottom to the top, banging his head.

When he wakes, depending on the time, I often find it easier to bring him into my bed. Husband moved to the spare room a long time ago! Anyway, the bed is against the wall, so I remove the duvet from that side and he goes to sleep. He rolls between me and the wall, he hits his head off the headboard and he’s almost gone off the bottom of the bed a few times. I’m exhausted. He constantly wakes and does go back to sleep most of the time but inevitably when he hurts himself, he’s properly awake and stays awake for a few hours.

Anyone have any advice of reassurance that it gets better?
