Help me keep my sanity… 4 month regression

Thought we had got lucky when we hit 20 weeks with no sleep issues. But this past week has been HELL!
Daytime naps have become a screaming match and a quick 20 minutes if we’re lucky.
Nighttime is insane! Little one screams for what feels like an eternity until he eventually falls asleep (on my chest, of course) and then we’re up every hour for the smallest amount of milk. Eventually he wakes at about 5am and stays awake for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour by which point I’m wide awake. Then the cheeky little bugger will get himself down for a nice 3 hour nap while I lie awake.
He was in such a good routine before, basically got there on his own and was going down from about 9pm-3am, quick feed and back to sleep until 7/8.
I know it’s not forever.
How long did the 4 month sleep regression last for you? Did your little one eventually just get back into a routine? Was it gradual or sudden?
Thank heavens for coffee and the odd 20 minutes of silence 🙏

Going through the same thing,it's so hard!

Also going through the same and sat up after a 1am wake up again too. DS was doing 7-5 until a few weeks ago and now we have the 20 min cat naps and lots of night wakings again. So hard. Am hoping this will pass soon.

Can they self settle usually? Mine didn’t have this but she’s always been a chronic cat napper in the day.

Some friends with babies the same age didn’t come out the 4 month regression for 3 months. Others it was over in a few weeks. The difference was those who could self settle.

@Newmum29
He can self settle, I hope that’s a good sign that it may not last absolutely ages.

Last night was the worst it’s been. Got him to sleep relatively easily compared to other nights, then the usual wake ups but then he woke up at 3am absolutely inconsolable. I had to fully wake myself up and bring him in beside me to cuddle and calm him down. Eventually back to sleep and he’s just woke again at 7am the same. I’ve given him some calpol incase his teeth are giving him any pain 😔
I don’t think I’ve even manage 2 hours solid sleep. We were supposed to be staying with family this weekend but I don’t think that’s a good idea at all!
