11 week old refusing milk

Hi all, looking for some advice! My 11 week old daughter has started refusing her bottles over the last few days, not every one but she takes most fine during the day and the last 2 before bed she will take a few mouthfuls and start screaming as if she’s terrified of it, with real tears and everything! This happened with her bedtime bottle last night but then she took 5oz with no issue during the night, but refusing again this morning!

She’s quite content when I’m not attempting to feed her, not screaming in hunger but I’m concerned she’s only had about 6oz in the past 15 hours Sad. She has struggled with colic since a few weeks old but this had been settling with colief drops/gripe water and the evening screaming has settled down so I’m unsure what’s causing this sudden change?

OP I'm giving you my experience and not remotely saying this is what is happening with your baby.
My DS started with colic, reflux, issues with milk etc because he had CMPA. The screams were gut wrenching to listen to and I could not console him.
Perhaps the milk doesn't agree with her?
Is she going to the toilet ok? Good poos, wet nappies? If she isn't pooping as much, she might be constipated. Poo pains are the worst so you can imagine how baby feels if they get this.
If she is filling her nappy well then have a chat with your HV or GP about perhaps changing her milk? Xx

Thanks for replying! Yeah it’s really strange as it’s not every bottle, she’s taken 2 of the 5 I’ve tried with her today but the ones she hasn’t taken it’s been horrible really painful cries! She’s winding and pooping normally though Confused. I asked my health visitor today and she didn’t seem concerned just said to offer less more often and she’ll feed when she needs to, if it carries on though I’ll contact my gp!

There is no routine with babies tbf until they get to around 3-4 months old. Very much feed on demand, as you are probably already aware.
All I would say is go with your gut instinct. If you think something isn't right then keep pushing the GP until they do some checks on your DD.
Hope it's sorted soon xx

Does she take her bottles when she’s asleep or immediately upon waking and refuse her bottles when she’s wide awake?

Just a few more questions.

Does she spit up a lot?
Does milk dribble out of the corner of her mouth when she is drinking? Does she gag and splutter during feeds?
Does she fall asleep during feeds only to wake up hungry as soon as you put her down in her cot?

Have you looked into a feeding/bottle aversion? My daughter had exactly the same signs as yours and this was the problem. There's a book by Rowena Bennett and a Facebook group and it was an absolute godsend, all the pressure from us was just making her worse in the end. If there's not a clear medical reason definitely look into it.
