I bought one of those cosy puffa coats for my 18 month old DD and she hates it! The arms are quite long and snug, so it’s an ordeal trying to get her hands out the other end. Once she’s in she looks like the Michelin man, quite uncomfortable and her movement seems restricted. I think she also finds it irritating how high the sides of the coat ride up around her neck when done up IYSWIM.

I’ve tried several coats now and had the same problem with all of them. Will she get used to wearing one or do I need to try a different style? Any recommendations for something that is guaranteed to be warm and crucially, comfy? It doesn’t help that she’s 18 months now (so on the cusp of sizes). How can I make her more comfortable?!

I've just bought a 3 in 1 coat from boden, it's not as thick but then has a removable sherpa lining, I bought 2-3 and it reaches my 18 month old DS's knees but he can still move freely in it. It was quite pricy but it will do him next year too.

You could try layering...I have a really warm fleece that I can put a jumper underneath and a waterproof layer on top. I recommend the frugi snuggle fleece, they are so cosy. Again they're quite pricy but I got mine second hand on Vinted for £8. Or you can buy new and sell on.
