EBF and dummy's

My little one is 4 months old and we've hit the 4 month sleep regression. He wakes every 45 mins wanting the comfort of the boob and then falls back asleep, I do not believe he's hungry he just wants the comfort. He's never settled during day when he was sleeping during the night I could cope with the constant demand during the day but with not getting any sleep I'm starting to struggle. He's EBF and doesn't have a dummy this may sound ridiculous to some but the thought of him having a dummy makes me jealous Blush I like being the one to comfort him. I gave him a dummy a few months ago for a couple of mins and he accepted it pretty well but I put it in the bin because it broke my heart. I'm starting to wonder if I try a dummy again will he settle more during the night and day because I don't believe he's hungry... but at the same time I've gotten this far without one l! Feel completely lost on what to do

I EBF and never gave DS a dummy. I just put up with the night wakings. You have to make that decision, OP. There's no right or wrong.

I didn't BF so I can't comment on that connection (which sounds sweet by the way)
But even with bloody pacifiers they still fall out and the baby wakes and you have to put it back in!
Mine did that from 4m - 7m when he started putting them back in his mouth by himself 😅

So I think the dummy would only help if you have an OH who will get up and give it back to him.

I don't think there's any harm in having both and mixing jt up a bit if you can, that way when he's a bit older you could use the dummy instead and he might be able to put it back in by himself :)

At one point we had about 6 of them in his cot 😂

Morning. in the throes of this too. Mine isn't fussed on a dummy and refuses at night - wants me for comfort so I don't bother trying. I'm absolutely shattered!

Thankfully baby will sleep without the boob from 7am so I tend to sleep 10-2am (baby still does a good deep sleep like this most nights), then up every hour (at best!) until 7am then get another hour and a half solid whilst Dad steps in. Then just when I think I can't go on, I get one night of baby sleeping better eg 10-2, 3-5, 5-7 and it gives me the strength to survive Smile

This is the longest leap so far and a real challenge isn't it!
