Contact dermatitis or allergy?

DS is 2.5, he's had a kind of spotty rash around his mouth a few times after eating. Tomato seems to be the common thread but I'm not 100% sure.

I know this can be from acidic food on the skin causing contact dermatitis, but could it also be an intolerance or allergy I should take more seriously? Is this a GP thing or pharmacist thing?

If its only tomatoes that cause the reaction id say allergy.

I think if it's a mild rash, just around the mouth, and disappears within a few hours, it's quite common for it to be irritation rather than an allergy, and tomatoes are a common culprit (e.g., www.schn.health.nsw.gov.au/files/factsheets/allergy_-_food_allergies_and_eczema-en.pdf, first page, bottom right). That said, I'd probably check with a HCP if there's any hint it might be an allergy, not just minor skin irritation.

What the poster above said. Our DD had a whole bunch of allergy tests around age 1, and the tomato-related bumps that went away quickly were not of any concern to the doctors. They didn’t even call it an intolerance. I’d mention it to HV if you’re worried but in our experience it has not been a cause for concern.
