Hi guys my 8.5 month old is a great sleeper at night but naps are being a bit odd...she usually
6.30 wake
9.30 nap - 10.00 wake
12.30 nap - 2.30 wake
18.30 bed, sleeps through till 6.30am

Ideal! But for the last week I've put her down at 12.30 but she's not fallen asleep till 13.20. Do you think I should just put her down a bit later, maybe 13.00? Or is this a sleep regression? Or maybe bedtime shoukd be later? I heard the lunchtime nap is the one to keep so keen to get a full two hours if possible!!

Thanks for any advice

Download the huckleberry app. It will work it out all for you and let you know when optimum sleep windows are.
Was a revelation for my DD!

As your LO gets older, she will be able to stay awake longer between naps, so I would just move the second nap to 1.30. My 8 month old naps at 9am for an hour, and then at 1.30 for two hours - she used to go down at 1pm, but she started to take ages to fall asleep for that nap, so I just pushed it back half an hour. I expect to have to do the same with the morning nap at some point, but at the minute she does seem to like a shorter wake period first thing. It’s just about tweaking it as they grow. You have a great schedule there, so I reckon just a minor adjustment to reflect her getting older, and you’ll be all set!

Wake windows should get longer through the day, to build up some tiredness for a good night's sleep. You have 3 hours between morning wake and nap one, and 4 hours between nap two and bedtime, but only 2.5 hours between the two naps. It sounds like currently she's not tired enough for her second nap.

I would put second nap later, and aim for wake windows of 3, then 3.5, then 4 hours. So bedtime is later too.

Hope that helps. Xx

Great news OP! Hope she had a lovely long sleep Flowers

She did thanks!! I woke her up at 3...maybe I should have left her a bit longer but I feel 1.45 hr at lunch and then let her have a full 45 min nap in the morning might be the best solution for us. Thanks so much for your help!
