My now 19mo started nursery when he was 12mo, after the expected upset at first which was really minor and passed very quickly he really enjoyed nursery and we never had any issues taking him infant we got to the stage of him happily walking into nursery without so much as a wave back to us. He never cried and we never had any issues.
He’s in two days a week and he’s obviously missed a day or sometimes both days due to covid closures or illness and there’s been minor wobbles after this at times but nothing major. He was off about a month ago with a sickness but and he missed both days, the next week when we took him in he was absolutely besides himself crying, we thought maybe he’d just need time to get back into the routine of nursery but we’re 4-5 weeks down the line now and he’s still so upset every time we take him, he even knows the morning routine for nursery before we take him and he was crying at home today.
Once he’s at nursery they say he stops crying within 5 minutes of us leaving, he’s more tactile with them and wants more cuddles than usual, but they say he’s absolutely fine on the whole and when we pick him up he’s as happy as anything.
Is there anything we can do about the crying in the morning? It’s so awful. I wish he could stay here with me but I have to work and I know these 2 days at nursery are super for his development as we have no other kids in the family so he does need the interaction.
