Is it because I'm the organiser or because I'm a general dogbody?

We let my DS pick one item for his Christmas present every year. He selected stuff for a game character this year, which is OK. When I asked my DH what he thought, he said it didn't matter as long as the game was age-appropriate and he didn't play it for too long. I went on to explain why his DS is interested, and he went straight to his laptop. DH is usually present at bedtime, but he does not read to his son. He is an excellent provider, but he is not attentive enough to other aspects. I organize the open days and bands exams because my DS will be beginning secondary school in a year. DH would also have DS busy himself with social media while preparing things.
It's aggravating and upsetting.

I fear the lack of your DH's engagement should have been addressed years ago, unless your situation was different then. Are you planning to get your DS a phone for secondary school? I would put your DH in charge of that, plus monitoring your DS's social media and sorting out all tech issues!

From the time DS was a baby till starting reception, the lack of engagement has been the same Blue Champagne. Because DS will be getting a phone for secondary school, I appreciate your idea of putting DH in control of it. Because DH is a bit of a technical body, this would be a good foundation to expand on.
