Head/neck control behind

Hello all

Just had our 6 week check (baby 7 and half weeks) and all was well except his head control is behind expected. GP bringing him back in 3 weeks and explicitly said she wasn't worried but I'm in a bit of a state about it.

Any positive stories re. This?!

That is worrying but there is such a wide range of differences in how babies develop. My friend's baby was ver slow to sit up and walk but has just got his Master's degree this summer

I don't think it's remotely worrying. I don't know any 7 week old that has neck control. Please don't get concerned. Both my sons were fairly floppy at that stage. Big leap happens around 4 months and head lag should have gone by 6 months.

Oh please don't worry OP. I spent the first year of DD life worrying about everything end trying to get her to do stuff before she was ready, like sit independently or roll over or pull to stand. I fretted and fretted and it made no difference, she did those things when she was ready. There are such big age spans for when babies do things too. If the doctor told you she isn't worried then, hard as it is, I would take that at face value. They won't lie to you Thanks

How is babies head measuring?

Thanks everyone for replies.

Just an update in case anyone reads in future - head control picked up dramatically over a couple of weeks and is now great - as some have said, some babies clearly develop at different rates!

Good it's all fine now. I don't think Ds had much head control at 6 weeks. I didn't realise he should have? I don't think our GP even checked for that at his first review.
