Anyone's kids had chicken pox?

My three year old first had symptoms on Friday and the spots keep on coming!

If you have been through this how did you stop the picking/scratching at them? We've got that mousse and have tried piriton syrup too. But I think it's not so much the itch which is causing constant touching of the spots but the absentminded "oh here's something to pick at".

If you also had a picker, did every scratch and pick lead to scaring? That's what I'm really worried about - especially on the face.

To be honest we had all the new stuff they recommend including the mousse but ended up using chamomile lotion and she seemed more comfortable with that on

We did oats in a sock in the bath too

I put mine in the bath. Fill a sock or some tights full off oats and run the water through it, really helped mine not to itch. We also used calamine lotion mixed with aqueous cream as found just calamine lotion dried hard and itching worse.

Ah great. We did oats in the bath last night too so I'm pleased it might make a difference. Tried calamine but apparently "it's too pink" - even though the piriton syrup was rejected because it wasn't pink like calpol. Toddlers eh. Confused
