Baby hates car - experience / tips

Hi! I had a colicky baby who hated everything. She's now a happy baby at 12 weeks, hurrah!

However, she still hates the car and cries hysterically. I have to stop and cuddle her to calm her and she'll be covered in sweat and will be very upset Sad

I avoid car journeys where possible. My parents are a two hour drive away and I'd love to be able to drive there but it's just not possible unless someone is in the back with her

Hopefully it's just a phase

Any experience or ideas? I attach her favourite toy to her car seat but after 10 mins or so she's bored of it and the crying starts. I make sure she's fed etc... but I guess she could be tired (she fights sleep and won't sleep in the car or pram!)

She doesn't mind the car seat, it's just being in the car. Even if my partner drives and I'm in the back she'll most likely scream

Thanks in advance!

@R1cciteddy I completely feel your pain - we have a nearly 4 month old and car trips are a constant anxiety inducing situation. He cries hysterically for 80% of journeys and occasionally falls asleep the other 20%. Does your LO also dislike the pram? Ours did previously but this has improved marginally so I live in hope that the car situation will follow. I am trying to think of why he hates it so much and think that the pram and the car both have going backwards in common so not sure if this is what he dislikes?

Hi everyone, yes it fizzled out for us at around 4 /5 months. It was very difficult at the time. I bought a little hanging toy on the back of the seat which she seemed to like. I can only put it down to her being a clingy baby and didn’t like being on her own. She also hated the pram when she was little! We also did lullaby type music in the car I think it helped a bit. Fingers crossed it fizzles out for you soon too. It’s tough but likely just a phase.
