advice on kid using internet for explicit purposes

I was getting suspicious of my 14 year old sons web usage. So I went through his search history on his phone.
I was shocked at what I found as I saw that he had been visiting adult websites and watching "knife porn" videos.
I am aware this is something I should be concerned about but I dont have the technological knowledge to stop this happening again in the future. I have spoken with my son about this and he said he was doing it as a "joke". I do not see this as a joke.

Any advice or suggestions of things I can put in place to avoid this from happening again in the future.

Sounds awful yes. And you should have a good chat with him about proper relationships between people (how to treat women etc.) Also worth telling him that the woman in porn are often abused so it’s not a joke. There might be online resources to help teenagers with healthy relationships and how to be safe online.

To put your mind at some rest, I (I’m female) watched some really dodgy porn online as a 9/10 year old. It’s was the 90s and internet safety wasn’t really a thing back then. I was mostly just curious and although I look back now and feel a bit ashamed, I’m not a bad person and it’s not really done me any harm.

Just to add you should definitely install parental controls on all devices/tv.

What device is he using? Maybe someone can talk you through how to set up parental controls.
