Transitioning out of swaddle tips please

We’ve tried my 3mo (12wks this week) DS in a baby sleeping bag for the past week with not much success, he is waking up every 1-2 hrs in the night (after sleeping 3-4 hrs with a swaddle sometimes 5hrs) frequently hitting himself in the face and waking up. Before this we tried the one arm out/ two arm out of swaddle for a few nights to help transition. I’ve found lots of different advice online as to when you should stop swaddling, DS is not yet showing signs of rolling but is bursting out of his Velcro swaddle wraps. We have also tried the arms up zip swaddle bags but have not found these as good for DS. Do we persevere without the swaddle or do we just buy a bigger size and continue for abit longer? (And all get abit more sleep! 🤪) What did you do? Help for FTM!

We swaddled til little one kicked herself out of it! We just used a blankety swaddle though, not velcroy ones. Then we just shoved her in a sleeping bag. But she was always a crappo sleeper so never knew any difference between swaddling and sleeping bagging really. Keep going if you can with swaddle! Absolutely doesn't hurt them.

As a FTM of a 10m old I now live by "whatever works to get sleep". As long as it's safe! Can't see any concern as long as they can't kick over their face and smother themselves

Swaddle as long as you can! Why wouldn't you?

We swaddled (life to dream arms up style) until DD could roll (around 5 months). The transition was two weeks of genuine hell, I won’t lie. However it does pass and they do stop smacking themselves in the face I promise! I can still remember seeing the arm on the monitor flapping around like an alien! At 12 weeks for our DD the Moro reflex was still going strong so I would probs wait a bit longer if I were you

We’ve bought a Zipadee Zip to transition from the Swaddle Up. Apparently allows full movement for rolling etc, but is still snuggly.

This baby actually seems to sleep a bit, unlike her elder sister, so we’ll buy whatever we need to in order to preserve the not horrendous nights.

She’s clearly lulling us into a false sense of security before she hits 4 months…
